Important Tax Deadlines

Greetings from the Seth &  Alexander team,

One week from today, on January 24th, the 2022 tax season will begin. The start date for individual tax return filers allows the IRS time to perform programming and testing that is critical to ensuring IRS systems run smoothly.

The IRS is currently making updates to its systems to help ensure that eligible people can claim the proper amount of the Child Tax Credit after comparing their 2021 advance credits and claim any remaining stimulus money as a Recovery Rebate Credit when the 2021 tax returns are filed.

As we have previously mentioned, it is important to have all your information in hand to make sure a complete and accurate return is filed. Having an accurate tax return can avoid processing delays, refund delays and later IRS notices. If you received advance Child Tax Credit payments or Economic Impact Payments in 2021, we will need the amounts of the payments when preparing your tax return.

Please put these very IMPORTANT DATES in your calendars and avoid penalties!

  • January 31, 2022 - Form W-2 filing deadline

  • March 1, 2022 - 1099-MISC paper filing deadline

  • March 15, 2022 - S-corp and partnership returns due

  • April 18, 2022 - 1st quarterly tax payment

  • April 18, 2022 - Individual tax return due
